AUTHORS
AND PUBLISHERS
If you have a book to promote or would like to set up an interview
with a literary personality, please contact
the editors via e-mail: hipsterbookclub@gmail.com
WRITERS
We're always looking for new writers to join the staff. If
you're interested in being a part of the HBC website, please
send us the following:
- A
brief summary of your writing background. No experience
is necessary, but we'd like to know if you have any.
- Your
screen name on LiveJournal. If you're not a part of the
HBC LiveJournal community, you obviously don't have to provide
this.
- A
500-800 word book review. You may choose any book you'd
like, though we'd prefer to see reviews of books we haven't
already reviewed ourselves.
- Anything
else you think we need to know about you. This may include
your literary interests (e.g. your affinity for experimental
fiction, memoirs, or graphic novels), ideas for an article,
or offers to give Kyle a backrub.
Send
this material to hipsterbookclub@gmail.com
COPY EDITORS
The HBC is looking for one or more additional copy editors
to help proofread articles each month. Copy editors will work
under the current editors, proofreading anywhere from 10 to
15 articles per month, not including rewrites. Proofreading
experience is preferred, though a journalism background is
not required. To apply, please send us the material listed
above, but please note the following changes and additions:
- Please
provide a brief summary of your copy editing experience
and abilities, as well as your availability.
- If
you do not want to write, you do not have to provide a writing
sample. However, a writing sample could help us determine
how well you can copy edit yourself.
- We
may give you a copy editing test.
Please
note that copy editing and writing positions are on a volunteer
basis only. Nobody at the HBC gets paid...unless you consider
free books to be payment.
